I care about my students as individuals with needs, hopes, and struggles. I express my love for them through attention, compassion, differentiation, and humor. They can feel my regard for them. These relationships are the foundation of my practice.
As a teacher, I prioritise curiosity over judgment. When students struggle academically or when their behaviour doesn't meet expectations, I approach them wondering what they need and how to support them.
It took me a long time to realize that I should be a teacher. Once I became one, I reflected on how natural a fit it was: my great passions are reading, writing, and connecting with other people. Of course I love teaching Language Arts!
